About the Despacho Ritual
The Qeros Shaman Maestros believe that all is energy, and all is alive and animate. There is no difference between the seen and the unseen all is energy and conscious. In nature, we witness in every moment the generosity and strength of Pachamama, our entire existence depends on her unconditional generosity.
So,it is with this deep love, understanding and respect for the cosmos and Pachamama that the despacho ritual (central to the Qeros community) is performed to bring all three levels of consciousness;
- Yankay – Physical Universe
- Yanchay – Spirit /Wisdom
- Munay – Heart Centre … together to bring back balance and harmony to the person, community or humanity in general.
The Despacho is a way we can try to give back to Pachamama with gratitude and offerings. Despacho means “a message” or “care package” and often when a person goes to see a shaman be it for love, health, healing from grief /shock / illness, prosperity the shaman will perform a despacho and consult the coca leaves.
The despacho is a beautiful ceremony and can take some hours to complete but it is so powerful and many messages can be obtained from the smoke as the despacho burns.
